Tour Two - Wine and History -Bespole tours grapes

This tour takes us to a beautiful East Sussex vineyard set on National Trust owned land, bordering an ancient Cinque Ports town. Their sparkling wine is produced using the traditional champagne method and has won several awards. They also produce a sparkling rose and a Pinot Noir. The property on this wine estate is a beautiful and historic 16th century manor house owned by the National Trust. It has been used as film locations by the BBC and Netflix. From the beautiful grounds there are stunning views across salt marshes to the English Channel.

After a guided tour of this stunning wine estate and winery (with the option to go off roading in a 4×4!) you will be able to enjoy sampling their wines accompanied by a tasting platter.

From here you will be able to explore an ancient, Cinque Ports town of Winchelsea with the opportunity (when available) to have a historic cellar tour and explore the labyrinth of ancient cellars.

This tour continues to another Cinque Ports town, the medieval hill town of Rye. You will visit a model replica of the town and hear all about it’s unique and colourful history. Next you will have a tour of the 600 year old Mermaid Inn, after which you have the option to enjoy a drink in the bar with the Giant’s Fireplace which was frequented by the infamous Hawkhurst Gang of smugglers!

The time is now yours to wander through the cobbled streets of this picturesque town and maybe stop for tea at Simon the Pieman or Fletchers House. There will also be the opportunity to sample more local beverages in the renowned, award winning Rye Waterworks micropub.

You will picked up at the end of the day to return to your train station/pick-up point.
